about the planner

What’s Included:

The Pretty Pretty Planner printables consists of two primary parts – weekly and monthly calendars, with different layout and color scheme variations.

Usage Policy

All downloads are for individual personal use only, and may not be used for commercial or for-profit activities. You may print out as many as physical copies of my templates as you like for your individual use, but may not use any part of my downloads in other products. This means do not distribute my templates to other individuals, package them with other downloadable planner templates, or sell them through Etsy or other online platforms.

It’s Customizable!

There’s nothing worse than finding a great printable, and finding you’d love it that much more if you could just change one or two little things…. that’s why I always create mine in MS Word 2010, and post them in that same format. Since each printable is a complex set of nested tables and formatting, anything from colors to borders to labels can be changed. Fonts can be changed, images inserted, etc. For example: on the weekly layout, the categories for “Checklist” and “Daily Goals” can be renamed to whatever your particular needs are. They each have sub-tables that can be removed or altered as needed as well – for example, if you don’t like the grid pattern under the “Daily Goals” sections, just click on that grid sub-table and delete it out. This requires a certain ability to use MS Word, but heck. If you’ve got this far in the DIY Planner process, you probably know how to edit docs in Word.

How To Install:

Unzip the download links below. In each, the fonts used in my printables are included – you will need to install these fonts in order for the planner to look as it does in these screenshots! The planner was designed on a Windows computer. While it should still be editable on Mac computers, in testing I was told that if the Mac user doesn’t have the current version of MS Office or a similar converter, they will get error messages when opening the MS Word file.

How To Print:

These pages were designed to be printed on 8.5 x 11 paper. The pages are meant to be printed double-sided, and then punched with a Levenger/Arc punch. Each month or week will be a two-page spread, so you will see both pages of a month or week at one time when the notebook is opened.

If you have a color printer that prints double-sided pages (or are using the black and white version), then this means you have to choose double-sided printing from the print menu, and then choose to print on the short side (or long side, if that’s how your printer works). This might take some experimenting.

If your color printer requires you to print manual double-sided, it’s more work. You physically print on one side, go to the printer, take them out, reverse the order, and place them upside down back in the tray or however it works for you. On my printer, this means I have to print all the odd pages first, then once I’ve placed them back in the tray I print the even pages.

It’s complicated, but hey – that’s what you get with DIY Planners. Enjoy! I would love to see pics of these printables in action! Send a pic or link to your planner setup with them. Just remember to please don’t redistribute without proper credit.

These aren’t perfect, but I wanted some tabs in the same colors that I used in the Pretty Pretty Planner. They are designed to be printed, cut out, and glued onto the pages.

Hi Connandvansmom! I’m glad you like it!! I will be doing 2016 versions, maybe not for every single format, but for sure for the main ones. It just might be a month or so yet before I can get back to working on them.

[…] it’s amazing what you can get for free! I got the actual planner from a fantastic blog called http://www.calvinwasright.com for nothing but the paper and ink to print it. I did think I’d make an attempt to make my own […]

Hi there, just wondering when and if you were planning on putting out a 2016 one? I’m a homeschooling mom so I would love this from july 2015 to june 2016. Thank you, this is absolutely beautiful!

    • pensandart July 12, 2015 at 6:29 pm Reply

Hi Tani! I do have plans to work on the 2016 version soon. I have been promising that for a couple of months now I know, but life has been getting in the way a bit. I definitely still plan to do it soon though! So stay tuned. Thanks!

I love this planner! I have been looking at many different types of planners for quite some time now and this one is just perfect! I am so glad you will be making a 2016 version. I love the fact that it is customizable so that I can make my planner just the way I need it. Awesome job! Thanks so much for sharing this.

Thank you so very much for sharing your downloads – even the monthly tabs – wow! What a blessing. I wanted a disc planner and really wanted to make it myself to save money. Your page is a one stop for constructing the planner. l love the idea of using the cutting mats for covers – even have a pack of them in the cabinet now. Where do you recommend getting the discs at a good price? Looking forward to your 2016 update. Thanks again!!!

    • pensandart July 12, 2015 at 6:25 pm Reply

Thanks Kim! I’m so glad you’re enjoying my posts, sorry for the delay in responding. For discs, I’d suggest looking on ebay – you’ll sometimes find disc sets from Levenger (the gold standard in quality) for sale there. Also search for rollabind/arc discs on ebay. But aside from Ebay there aren’t many places to get just the discs alone. You can get them directly from Levenger (they are better quality but more expensive) or from Staples (a pack of discs is about $4). Otherwise you’d be better off buying a cheap plastic Staples Arc notebook for about $8-$10, and using those discs.

    Hi,
Thanks so much for your planners. I especially love that they are editable. I tried to download the weekly hourly word document but it kept giving me the weekly one. I could download it OK as the pdf but really wanted the word version. Could you fix the download link please?
    Alison

Hi Alison! I think I’ve updated the link to the right file now, so please give it another go!

I love this planner!! I haven’t printed it out yet because I’m kind of confused on how to print it. Should I print the odd pages like you did? Also since it’s already july, I was wondering if you would be putting out a 2016 planner so I can print it all together? Where can I get an arc punch from and that spiral you have? Last question, are the boxes in the weekly layout (morning, afternoon, evening) the same size as the Erin Condren ones? Thank you so much

    • pensandart July 18, 2015 at 2:35 am Reply

Hi Emma! There will be a 2016 version soon, I’m still working on it. The Arc Punch you can find either at Staples or Levenger (both are interchangeable). The boxes I tried to make the same size as Erin Condren so I could use EC-style planner stickers, so they should be close, if not exact. šŸ™‚

  9. emma July 17, 2015 at 3:41 am Reply

Also what paper do you recommend printing them on to get the same feel as the erin condren?

    • pensandart July 18, 2015 at 2:37 am Reply

I can’t say what the feel of the Erin Condren paper is like, as I’ve never tried or held one in my hands. I would suggest printing on at least a 28# paper – I use ultra bright white from Office Depot.

  10. emma July 17, 2015 at 3:50 am Reply

Ahhh so sorry but I also wanted to ask if I would be able to go to staples and get the paper arc punched by them?

    • pensandart July 18, 2015 at 2:38 am Reply

That I’m not sure, I don’t think its a regular thing that the Staples have arc punches in their copy/print shops, but it cant hurt to call your local Staples and ask. šŸ™‚

Hi Lisette!! Sorry to respond sooner. Vacations and life kinda got in the way before, but I’m actively working on the 2016 versions now, so hopefully not too much longer. Thanks!

Hi! These planners look great! Unfortunately I have been having problems with downloading the Word version of the weekly-hourly planner. The “Pretty Pretty Planner ā€“ 2015 Weekly Hourly” link does not seem to link to the weekly-hourly planner version, but rather the standard version. Is there perhaps another link that I’m missing?

    • pensandart September 6, 2015 at 5:36 pm Reply

Sorry for the tremendous delay in getting back to you tricklingrain! I have fixed the download link for the Word version. Thanks for catching that!

can you get this binded with a coil instead of punching it? thanks. I updated the one planner for 2016 much easier then I expected!

    • pensandart September 6, 2015 at 5:11 pm Reply

Hi Kaaay007 – thanks for commenting! You probably could get this coilbound at an OfficeMax or Staples – I left enough margin room that it should work. Good luck!

I was just curious how things were going with the 2016 version? I am anxious to see what you have come up with.
These planners are beautiful!!!! I have no doubt that you love making these and that you put your whole heart into each one of them.
Do you mind if I ask where you learn to make these?

    • pensandart September 6, 2015 at 5:24 pm Reply

Hi Brenda! They are still going, vacation took me away from them for awhile. I learned them just by never finding the right template and deciding to just make my own in Word, so have made tons of different layouts and versions over the years to get the final look I want. Just lots of practice in Word with tables and boxes.:)
